News and Announcements – Note also: Sessions on the 7th & 8th Jan and the AGM/Dinner on the 9th have been cancelled due to extreme weather.

Welcome to the website of Chichester Community Fencing Club (CIC)

Chichester Community Fencing Club (Community Interest Company No. 06711860) is a volunteer run, not-for-profit organisation which meets twice a week:

Thursdays: 18:00 – 20:00
Fridays: 18:00 – 20:00

We meet at the Chichester College Sports Hall (venue information). New and visiting fencers of all ages and abilities are always welcome and  and all equipment is provided for. If you’re coming for the first time please wear non-marking trainers, a t-shirt and tracksuit bottoms (it is important that your legs are covered). It’s also a good idea to bring something to drink, a water fountain is available however.

Sessions at CCFC are friendly and welcoming. Training is available to everyone in the form of both class lessons and individual lessons from any of the club’s four British Fencing Association qualified coaches. We fence all three weapons and have 4 sets of electric scoring equipment available for use.

In the New Year we will be running another of our beginner’s courses, which we are hoping to start on Friday 15th Jan. The courses run for six weeks and cost £25 – however the first session is free, enabling you to come along and try the sport without having to commit. To sign up for the course either come along to one of our sessions or contact us here.

Founded in February 2006 our club aims to promote values of sportsmanship and widened participation in fencing. Through the pursuit of these aims the club achieved the backing of the National Lottery and in early 2007 was awarded a substantial grant of £9000, which was used to launch the club in June ’07.

As a club and a community group we run several outreach programs involving local schools, community groups, scout groups and many more. Our current major project is our Schools Development Scheme, for which we have recently received the backing of a local charitable trust (The Woodger Trust) in the form of a £15,000 grant for the first phase of the project. This scheme will introduce the sport of fencing to as many local state schools in the Chichester area as possible, all at no cost to the pupils or the schools involved.
