Chichester Community Fencing Club is a volunteer run, not-for-profit organisation which meets twice a week:
Thursdays 18:00-20:00 Fridays 18:30-20:30
Session fees: £3.50 members, £4 non-members (for 1st calender month, £5 thereafter).
We meet at the Chichester College Sports Hall (click here for venue information). We always welcome new and visiting fencers of all ages and abilities and all equipment is provided for. If you’re coming for the first time please wear non-marking trainers, a t-shirt and tracksuit bottoms (it’s very important that your legs are covered).
Founded in February 2006 the club aims to promote values of sportsmanship and widened participation in fencing. Through the pursuit of these aims the club achieved the backing of the National Lottery and in early 2007 was awarded a substantial grant of £9000 which was used to launch the club in June ’07.
As a club and a community group we run several outreach programs involving local schools, community groups, scout groups and many more. Our current major project is our Schools Development Scheme, for which we have recently received the backing of a local charitable trust (The Woodger Trust) in the form of a £15,000 grant for the first phase of the project. This scheme will introduce the sport of fencing to as many local state schools in the Chichester area as possible, all at no cost to the pupils or the schools involved.
- You can find out about this project as well as how you can get involved by reading our ‘Schools Development Scheme’ section.
- CCFC also supports the Sportsmanship First project, a campaign aimed at putting sportsmanship back into sport. Click here to find out more about this campaign.
Sessions at CCFC are friendly and welcoming. Training is available to everyone in the form of both class lessons and individual lessons from any of the club’s four British Fencing Association qualified coaches. We fence all three weapons and have electric scoring equipment available for use.
