Chris has taken some pictures of the eppeists in action.  Take a look here.

Thanks for the big turn out last night.  It was a great atmosphere and a good time was had by all. Well done to Carina for organizing us.  Happy Christmas to all our members and good fencing in the New Year!!

CCFC were at Goodwood this Sunday (23rd October) helping to raise money for Cancerwise and to promote the sport. Morys, Jethro and myself gave demonstrations of foil, epee and even sabre and enjoyed the surprisingly lovely weather. Thanks to Carina for organizing this for us a for providing logistics support. Some photos of the activities (courtesy of Chris) can be found here.

A little late, but just to report that Steve and I represented the club at Oakland's on Sunday 11th despite a close call with the weather (the event was very nearly called off due to the poor forecast). Surprisingly loads of people were around in the afternoon and we carried out three big minifence sessions that were very well received. Smiling faces are always a good sign. Steve's voice nearly went as he fought valiantly against the adjacent Fire Brigade's fire engine sirens being set off by trigger happy kids, bless them.  Believe it or not I got a touch of the sun! Some official pictures were taken and I hope they find their way to us.

An extremely well done video by the 1968Filmgroup on fencing - worth watching. Here.

Beginner Courses 18/07/2011

Our Six-week Beginner Courses run throughout the year, normally on Thursdays. Start time 1800 (6pm).

If you sign up for the full course at the end of your first taster session, then you only pay £24 more for the five following sessions of the course. The total cost of the beginners' course cost, including the taster, is thus £30.00 (an extremely low price), as compared to £36 for six standard sessions. Note that because of the coaching commitment we do ask for the remainder of the price as a block payment.

For more details of what is covered during the course see under: More - Documents - Study Guides

Southern Region development weekend.  Saturday the 9th & 10th July. Coaches Lee Banting & Frank Scott both attended & learnt new tricks.

Chichester Open 30/05/2011

In the Epee we had both Elgars, and of course John Rees.  In the battle of the Elgars, Jack had the best results of the day, winning 4 out of 5 bouts in his pool, and got into the last 64, while his Dad had to settle for only one victory and missed out on the last 64. Both were knocked out in their respective DEs, as was John Rees, but all fenced well. Those of us who watched the finals saw some really top class fencing. All round a great day and a well organised competition.

Francois Pelet 06/05/2011

It is with great regret that I have to inform all club members and friends of the club, that Francois, a founding member of the club, past treasurer and the beat of the heart of our club has peacefully passed away today after loosing his battle with brain cancer.  Our thoughts go out to his family and friends.

I would like us to remember him for the gentleman he was, in every sense of the word.

Fencing with Francois was an experience to cherish as he was the embodiment of sportsmanship.  Rest in peace.

Lee Banting, President CCFC

Today CCFC signed an agreement with Ali O'Boyle of South Coast Sports to partner us in the delivery of the Schools Development Scheme.  We hope that Ali and her coaches can extend the excellent work of Steve Crossley, Paul Neave (and associates) in the delivery of fencing within the regions schools. Welcome !!
