About us

Chichester Community Fencing Club is run entirely by volunteers to promote the sport of fencing and the idea of ’sportsmanship first’. We were founded in 2007 with the help of a Awards for All Lottery grant (£9000) for equipment and training of coaches.  The club immediately instigated two major programmes - Coach Bursaries to encourage the growth of coaching within the sport and the Schools Development Scheme (SDS) to introduce school children to the sport and to help grow the sport from grassroots level.  The SDS was generously funded by The Woodger's Trust (a local charitable trust) and grew tremendously, strongly driven by the then Club's president, Steve Crossley. The club has successfully held annual SDS competitions in which local school's from the Wittering's and Chichester area have competed.  We have participated in Chichester Council sport promotions at Oakland's park every  and have even demonstrated the value of the sport in health by presenting at local doctor's surgeries. Visit our Get Fencing! page to find out how to get involved.

There is no limit to the size of the committee and we are always looking for new people to bring in their own skills and experience.
