Coach Bursary

Chichester Community Fencing Club believes that the best way to expand the sport of fencing and to widen participation is by creating more fencing coaches. From the outset we have been looking to train fencers and volunteers in order to take on coaching roles and it is a core principal of our Club Constitution.

To further this aim CCFC has created a Coach Bursary Scheme whereby the Club will pay for all your training and for your examination (except retakes), you could train to become a level one foil, sabre or epee coach at no cost to yourself. All we ask is that you give a years service to the Club in return, this would mean coaching at some of our Club sessions or other events. After this year you are free to do what you like, but we hope that you would continue to use your skills to expand the sport of fencing whether within our own club or elsewhere.

The bursary scheme is open to any Chichester Community Fencing Club member, it is required that you have a reasonable standard of fencing (Fencing Achievement Award Grade 2 or above - see here for more) and have a keen interest in the sport itself and in bringing others into the sport. To apply for a coaching bursary you will need to make a formal application to the Club Committee in writing, contact us for more details or speak to a Committee member at a Club session.
