In the Epee we had both Elgars, and of course John Rees. In the battle of the Elgars, Jack had the best results of the day, winning 4 out of 5 bouts in his pool, and got into the last 64, while his Dad had to settle for only one victory and missed out on the last 64. Both were knocked out in their respective DEs, as was John Rees, but all fenced well. Those of us who watched the finals saw some really top class fencing. All round a great day and a well organised competition.
It is with great regret that I have to inform all club members and friends of the club, that Francois, a founding member of the club, past treasurer and the beat of the heart of our club has peacefully passed away today after loosing his battle with brain cancer. Our thoughts go out to his family and friends.
I would like us to remember him for the gentleman he was, in every sense of the word.
Fencing with Francois was an experience to cherish as he was the embodiment of sportsmanship. Rest in peace.
