Outreach
Our commitment to community engagement
Chichester Community Fencing Club is constantly looking to widen participation in sport and as such we often run community outreach programs. These take many forms, for example we have run special introduction sessions for scout and girl guide groups at their venues and at our own venue. We have put on fencing demonstrations in schools and also in Chichester city centre as part of the Christmas 2007 festivities. Always looking to get people into sport and to promote our values we welcome opportunities to engage with the community. If your organisation or community group would like to arrange a fencing demonstration, presentation or a 'taster session' please don't hesitate to get in touch.
One current major project is our Schools Development Scheme which aims
to introduce the sport of fencing to as many local state schools as possible
by training a member of staff to become a qualified fencing coach at a
basic level. These coaches will then be able, with the full support of
CCFC and the Schools Development Scheme network, to start their own extra-curricular
fencing club in their school. The whole scheme will be implemented at
no cost to the school, the member of staff or the pupils involved. This
is possible because CCFC has secured the backing of a local charitable
trust (the Woodger Trust) who have kindly donated £15,000 to the first
phase of the project. To find out more about this exiting project and
to get involved click on 'Schools Development Scheme' in the navigation
menu above.
