All ages and abilities welcome at every session. Sessions are charged at £3.50 for members and £4 for non-members. For directions to our venue please see the about section of the site.

Fencing is a diverse sport with a rich history. It also uses terminology based around words from foreign languages, sometimes even old dialiects of foreign languages, learning all the phrases used and their meanings is essential for a better understanding of the sport. It's also worth knowing a bit about the history of the sport as well, hopefully some of the resources below will help you to broaden your understanding of modern fencing and its origins. British Fencing Glossary - This glossary contains the official standard definitions of several common terms used in fencing in the UK

 

French-English Glossary - This is fairly extensive and also useful because definitions are clearly explaned. Translations of French fencing terms are also provided.

 

Hickok Sports Fencing Glossary - A very extensive glossary that is a good point of reference for any fencer.
